On May 15th at 6.00 pm, as the sun goes down, as the last day of ArtCity Bologna draws to a close, the indigestion of art continues with Mock Jungle After Party, an international screening involving nineteen artists. In the corpus of videos, different urgencies, languages and approaches to video emerge to compose a heterogeneous and crazy playlist that does not need to satisfy a specific theme. Rather, After Party wants to continue to show art even beyond the pre-established moments, without pauses, inexorably renewing itself in front of the eyes of unsuspecting passers-by and trying to give a little magic to the Mock Jungle audience, which often does not even know to be considered as such.

Il 15 maggio alle ore 18.00, al calare del sole, mentre l’ultima giornata di ArtCity Bologna volge al termine, l’indigestione di arte continua con l’After Party di Mock Jungle, screening internazionale in cui sono coinvolti diciannove artistə. Nel corpus di video emergono urgenze, linguaggi e approcci al video differenti tra loro, per andare a comporre una playlist eterogenea e impazzita che non ha bisogno di soddisfare un tema specifico. Piuttosto After Party vuole continuare a mostrare arte anche oltre i momenti prestabiliti, senza pause, rinnovandosi inesorabilmente di fronte agli occhi di passanti ignari e provando a donare un po’ di magia al pubblico di Mock Jungle, il quale, spesso, non sa nemmeno di poter essere considerato tale.

“Unit of ionizing radiation dose, which considers the energy actually absorbed and retained by the irradiated matter”. Rad is a psychedelic video. An immersive and chaotic journey into the director's imagination. As an hallucinations, the video clips run fast, losing any kind of connotation. Extracts from various underground collaborations turn into lucid dreams, leaving the viewer the freedom to take control of the narrative itself.

Stefania Carbonara filmmaker, born in Genoa, 1992. She is academic assistant of the Department of Media Design and New Technologies at NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and teaches "Design of professionalism" in the New Technologies course. She also pursues her career as a film maker making music videos and experimental projects with underground bands and independent realities. She participated as a filmmaker in the Festival Santarcangelo dei Teatri, in BilBolBul - International Festival of Comics and in Live Arts Week (Bologna) in collaboration with LeleMarcojanni for the #narrareomorire laboratory. She also collaborates as a filmmaker with the Cross Festival, creating the advertising promos for the event. She has been visually managing the musical project “Le Astronavi” for 6 years, making music videos and live visuals at concerts. Finally, she has been collaborating for two years with the Unicore streetwear brand, creating experimental commercials for each collection.

“Unità di dose di radiazione ionizzante, che considera l’energia realmente assorbita e trattenuta dalla materia irradiata”. Rad è un video psichedelico. Un viaggio immersivo e caotico nell’immaginario della regista. Come allucinazioni, gli spezzoni video scorrono veloci perdendo ogni tipo di connotazione. Gli estratti di diverse collaborazioni in ambito underground si trasformano in sogni lucidi lasciando allo spettatore la libertà di assumere il controllo della narrazione stessa.

Stefania Carbonara filmmaker, nata a Genova, 1992. Ha studiato al Liceo Artistico Paul Klee progetto Leonardo, nel corso di progettazione grafica e si è laureata alla NABA di Milano, in Media Design e Arti Multimediali. Ha partecipato come filmmaker, al Festival di Santarcangelo dei Teatri, al BilBolBul, Festival Internazionale del fumetto e al Live Arts Week di Bologna in collaborazione con i LeleMarcojanni all’interno del laboratorio #narrareomorire. Collabora inoltre, come filmmaker con il Cross Festival realizzando i promo pubblicitari dell’evento. Cura visivamente da 6 anni il progetto musicale “Le Astronavi” realizzando i video musicali e i live visuals ai concerti. Infine, collabora da due anni con il brand streatwear “Unicore” creando spot pubblicitari sperimentali ad ogni collezione. Attualmente lavora come assistente accademico del dipartimento di Media Design e Nuove Tecnologie alla NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti - Milano e insegna “Progettazione della professionalità” al terzo anno di Nuove Tecnologie. In parallelo porta avanti la sua carriera come film maker realizzando video musicali e progetti sperimentali con band underground e realtà indipendenti.

Dystopian Suburb Simulator catalogues a hypnotic surreal journey through a post-internet, reference-soaked realm created from the remnants of a childhood in the American suburbs- and all of the excruciating conformity and addiction that comes with it.

Nathan Bayne’s work strives to both build and inhabit surreal worlds which are inevitably self-deconstructed as relationships between elements of the food chain and general contemporary power struggles take over. These worlds are of a post-internet and post-capitalist origin, and yet created on and consumed entirely in the ever-growing, over-saturated digital realm. No matter what you see or what you feel, it arises from millions of polygons modeled to closely represent something you may have the human urge to claim as your own, and yet… what is the truly human self, if not inherently distinct from the all-consuming forces of technology?

Dystopian Suburb Simulator cataloga un viaggio surreale e ipnotico attraverso un regno post-internet, intriso di riferimenti, creato dai resti di un’infanzia nelle periferie americane con tutta la straziante conformità e dipendenza che ne derivano.

Nathan Bayne attraverso il suo lavoro si sforza sia di costruire, sia di abitare mondi surreali che sono inevitabilmente auto-decostruiti quando le relazioni tra gli elementi della catena alimentare e le lotte di potere contemporanee prendono il sopravvento. Questi mondi sono di origine post-internet e post-capitalista, eppure sono stati creati e consumati interamente nel regno digitale in continua crescita e sovrasaturato. Non importa quello che vedi o quello che senti, è nato da milioni di poligoni modellati per rappresentare qualcosa che si potrebbe avere l’impulso di rivendicare come umano, come tuo, eppure... qual è il vero sé umano, se non è essenzialmente distinto dalle foze consumatrici della tecnologia?
